Across Africa, over 11 million young people graduate from universities and colleges every year (World Bank, 2023). Yet according to the African Development Bank, over 75% struggle to find decent jobs.

Here’s part of the reason: our universities teach how to create simple tools, but not how to own systems.

I’ve met countless young graduates from Kenya’s and South Sudan’s best universities who can design beautiful websites. They know HTML, CSS, even some JavaScript. But when I ask the simplest question — “Where will you host this website so the world can see it?” — most are silent.

They point me to Bluehost, GoDaddy, HostGator, or SiteGround — but almost none of them own a server themselves. That means while they design websites for clients, they hand over the most profitable part — hosting — to someone else.

Every time a developer builds a website and sends the client to one of these companies, they’re making someone else a millionaire.

That’s when I decided: if I can design websites, why not also host them? Why not provide the full solution? That decision changed my business — and my life.

By 2022, I realized hosting was the missing piece. I invested in my first server to support nonprofits in Northern Kenya, especially in Kakuma Refugee Camp.

Within six months, I had designed and hosted 30 websites. Those websites gave thousands of refugees and community organizations a platform to share their stories, attract donors, and grow.
